CALGARY – An Edmonton man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash west of Calgary on Monday.
Emergency crews were called to Highway 1A between Canmore and Exshaw at around 4 p.m.
Investigators believe the motorcycle rear-ended a Pontiac Vibe as both vehicles were travelling eastbound. The collision caused the motorcyclist to lose control and crash his bike.
The 59-year-old was rushed to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary by STARS Air Ambulance in life-threatening condition.
Three occupants travelling in the Pontiac were uninjured.
RCMP say the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Investigators have ruled out road conditions, weather conditions, alcohol and speed as factors in the crash.
Highway 1A was closed in both directions for several hours while an investigation was conducted.
