VERNON — What a difference a week can make.
Last week, some Okanagan residents were being evacuated from their homes because of threatening wildfires but things began to cool down. So much so, that there’s snow falling at the higher elevations.
Silver Star Mountain is covered in snow Thursday morning after temperatures dropped below freezing Wednesday night.
“What a fantastic gift this morning!,” says Brad Baker of Silver Star Mountain.
Big White didn’t receive any snow overnight.

Global Okanagan meteorologist Wesla Wong says the cool airmass over B.C. means temperatures will stay near or slightly below seasonal through the weekend.
Campers heading out for the long weekend will be able to keep warm by the campfire.
The province lifted the campfire ban in the Kamloops Fire Centre last week.
