Searchers remain on the scene on Friday and were joined by the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, which will be searching a nearby pond.

“We know that it certainly looks like a very intensive effort and that’s what we’re trying to do, is really consider every option, pursue every investigative effort,” said Halifax Regional Police spokesperson, Theresa Rath.

Samson, 22, was last seen in the 6000-block of South Street in Halifax on Aug. 15.

By Aug. 20, Halifax Regional Police had arrested and charged fellow Dalhousie University student William Sandeson, 22, with first-degree murder.

Samson’s remains have not been recovered, but police say that is one of their top priorities.

“That remains a goal for us,” said Rath.

“We would like to recover his remains. That is as much for us and our investigation and the matter before the courts as it is for the family. We want to bring them some measure of comfort.”
