Man charged in 2014 Saskatoon homicide

SASKATOON – Police have laid charges in a 2014 Saskatoon homicide. The charges come after a lengthy investigation by police.

Police were called to an apartment building in the 1400-block of 20th Street West just after midnight on Nov. 17, 2014.

Officers arrived to find a man with serious injuries. Johnathon Keenatch-Lafond, 35, was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

At the time, police said they did not believe it was a random attack and officers were told intruders had entered Keenatch-Lafond’s suite and attacked him.

Keith Clarence Napope, 29, has now been charged with manslaughter and robbery. He appeared in Saskatoon provincial court Thursday morning and will remain in custody until a court appearance next month.

Police say the homicide remains under investigation.
