A video posted on YouTube Sunday by David Pangborn is getting a lot of attention online.
The video shows a grizzly bear in Denali National Park in Alaska. The bear can be seen lying down and then starts rolling down the hill to the delight of the onlookers.
“He’s just playing, that’s all he’s doing,” remarks one person.
The person taking the video pulls back at one point, showing how far the group is from the bear. However, officials have issued warnings in the past about getting too close to bears in places like Banff National Park.
“If you’ve got a telephoto lens great. If you don’t have to stop that’s even better. We understand that seeing bears is the highlight for some people, but it’s that whole larger safety issue in terms of giving the bear space,” said Parks Canada spokesperson Michelle Macullo in June 2014. “We really recommend 100 metres between you and a bear.”
