Keeping the pediatric-orthopedic hospital in Montreal was part of a bitter debate several years ago.
As the Shriners planned to close the old hospital on Cedar Avenue, there were threats it may leave the city and open in London, Ont. instead.
The amount of space at the new facility is more than double the size of the old location, with twice as many operating rooms.
Officials boast the hospital will have cutting edge medical technology, plenty of room dedicated to clinical research, ambulatory care and rehabilitation services.
Parking at the hospital is free.
