People in the Waterton townsite were told to be ready to leave due to shifting winds, but the alert was lifted on Saturday morning.

Parks Canada says two helicopters, two contracted units and six crews from national parks in Western Canada are fighting the 10-hectare blaze.

Some backcountry campgrounds and several trails on both sides of the border are still closed.
