A quick-thinking citizen tweeted at Montreal police and officers managed to disarm him.

“I really thought they acted well, the policemen,” said Marcel Larochelle, who witnessed the event.

“One of them jumped on him and they all jumped on him to try to stop him, of course.”

The man was taken to hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Police are reminding citizens to call 911 in an emergency situation, as tweeting might result in a slower response time.
