CALGARY – Premier Rachel Notley says she is keeping an open mind when it comes to contributing provincial funds towards the construction of a new hockey arena in Calgary.

Notley made the comments while attending Calgary-Foothills candidate Bob Hawkesworth’s campaign launch on Sunday, saying she’s waiting to learn more about what the Calgary Flames propose.

“Our view when we were in an opposition position around the Edmonton area was that, no, that’s not the first priority for government funds. But you know what? I’m going to keep an open mind and look at what proposals come forward and we’ll go from there.”

The Calgary Flames are holding an information session for season ticket holders on Tuesday, at which time it’s expected they will announce plans for the development of a new sports complex in the downtown core.
