NIPAWIN, Sask. – Mounties in a Saskatchewan community had a busy weekend dealing with a crime spree. Police say vehicles and firearms were stolen, homes broken into and property damaged between Aug. 7-10 in Nipawin.
The first vehicle theft happened around 11 p.m. Friday when a white 2004 Dodge Ram was stolen from a driveway. The truck was found a short time later with damage sustained from the driver hitting a parked vehicle and fence, along with damage to the passenger side from an unknown source.
The driver fled on foot but was arrested a short time later.
A female youth is facing charges of impaired driving, possession of stolen property and mischief. She makes her first court appearance on Sept. 30.
Then around 7 a.m. Saturday morning, thieves made off with a white 2014 GMC Sierra. The owner reported the theft to police and also posted the information on social media.
Someone in White Fox read the social media post, spotted the vehicle in an alley and reported it to police.
The driver took off back to Nipawin, where the truck was abandoned by the old bridge. Three people then took off, but were arrested.
Two female youth and a man have been charged with possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. Mounties continue to investigate.

In one case, suspects entered a home and stole five firearms – two 30-06 rifles, a 270 shotgun and two 12-gauge pump action shotguns – along with numerous electronics.
Suspects in another case entered a residence where the homeowners were asleep. The homeowners were not physically injured during the break and enter.
Police also say thieves broke into a garage and tried to steal a welder, but abandoned it in an alley.
Windows on two construction vehicles parked on Railway Avenue were also broken during the time period in question, with reports of vandalism reported in other areas of Nipawin.
With the thefts, Mounties are advising people that if they see items for sale at a price that is too good to be true, lower than fair market value or with a suspicious price, it should be reported to police.
