TORONTO – The teen captured on surveillance cameras snatching an iPad from a 4-year-old has been arrested.

Cameras inside Grace Salon in Tamarac, Florida captured the brazen late-July robbery.

While four-year-old Alejandro Ariza wasn’t physically injured, he’s been in the grips of nightmares since the incident and is now seeing a therapist, says his mom Jenny Rincon.

But Rincon says she doesn’t harbour any anger towards 16-year-old suspect Aaron Sapp.

“I forgive him. I believe in Jesus Christ and, in my heart, there’s only room for forgiveness. On the contrary, I’d like to help him,” she told CBS Miami. “He still has time to change and to become a person who does good things for society.”

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Sapp was identified by a series of tips submitted through Crime Stoppers, as well as by a positive identification from his probation officer and mother. After his arrest on Monday, Sapp confessed to the robbery and wrote a long apology letter, stating he’s struggling with a drug problem.

The teen has been charged with a felony count of strong-arm robbery and violation of probation.

Sapp’s mother Ericka says she’s embarrassed by her son’s actions and is committed to getting him the help he needs.

“He made his bed. He will lie in it,” she said. “I’m going to stick by him. I’m going to try and see him through, get him the needed help that he needs and then we’ll just move from there. Hopefully, maybe next time you see me or him on the news it’ll be for something that’s good.”
