WATCH: We’ve all had near misses on the road, but for one driver in Delta it was sheer panic as a semi entered the wrong way on an off-ramp – and the incident was all caught on video. Catherine Urquhart has details.
Dashcam footage from a Global News viewer shows a couple of vehicles narrowly avoiding an oncoming semi-trailer driving the wrong way onto the highway.
“I guess it was a near-miss,” said Carl Frey, who shot the video on his dashcam Monday afternoon. “It didn’t seem like it at the time. It was just one of these interesting moments.”

Some would consider that an understatement.
Frey’s dashcam recorded the footage as he travelled northbound on Highway 91 near the Alex Fraser Bridge in Delta. Just as he took the Nordel exit, a semi-trailer came straight at him.
“I saw it farther ahead and I thought..it was not on the street I was on. I thought it was going somewhere else until it came around the corner and I realized, hey, we’re heading opposite directions on the same street.”
Fortunately, Frey was able to pull over to the right and avoided hitting a lamp standard. As for the driver of the semi, he pulled over.
“I was watching in the rear view mirror and he did stop,” said Frey. “Once he pulled over and stopped, any immediate danger was over with. I was wondering how he was going to turn around. If he had gone any further he would have been going the wrong way on Highway 91. ”
