WATCH ABOVE: Longueuil fire officials say an early morning fire Saturday has caused about $350 000 worth of damage to a Brossard home.
BROSSARD – An early morning fire tore through a home on Asselin Street in Brossard on Saturday.
Firefighters received an emergency call about a residence on fire at around 2:15 a.m.

A defective electrical panel located in the basement is believed to have caused a spark that ignited the blaze.
The fire quickly spread to the walls and ceiling causing extensive damage.
It took about 30 firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the flames.

Normand Lavallée, spokesperson for the Longueuil fire department told Global News that firefighters had to break into the home in order to battle the blaze as the owner was not home at the time.
Preliminary evaluations estimate that damage to the property could exceed $350 000.
No injuries were reported.
