WATCH: Two sisters from Tacoma, Washington are being praised for preventing the abduction of their two-year-old sister after a stranger tried to pull the toddler over their gated fence. Gary Horcher reports.
It started with a scream.
That’s what prompted two siblings, 7 and 9, to run back outside to the backyard they were just playing in with their two-year-old sister, only to see a stranger trying to pull the toddler over their gated face.
The two older girls had left their young sibling to get a toy from inside their house when the incident took place.
She also didn’t want to be identified because of the traumatic event.
The attempted abduction happened on August 5 before 5 p.m. in Tacoma, Washington.
Police said if the older sisters had waited even a few more seconds, the alleged abductor might have gotten away with the little girl.
But that didn’t happen.

The two girls ran to their sister and grabbed onto her as the toddler held on to the fence with all her might.
“He was pulling on her, my seven-year-old said she just pulled her arm, and my nine-year-old said, ‘I looked right at him mom and he looked at me and he ran really fast up the alley,’” said the mother.
“They just yanked on her and I think seeing them kinda shocked him into letting her go,” she added.
The three sisters are now safe and with their mother.
“They did everything perfect,” the mother said.
A description of the alleged abductor wasn’t provided.
