MONTREAL – The STM is trying to keep buses running on time on the west island.

Two new reserved bus lanes on Sources Boulevard are opened as of Monday.

Taxis and people car pooling can also use the reserved lane that runs through Pierrefonds, Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Pointe-Claire.

The southbound lane will be in service from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., between Gouin and De Salaberry boulevards and between Hymus Boulevard and Saint-Louis Avenue.
In turn, the northbound lane will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. between Reverchon Avenue and Hymus Boulevard, as well as between De Salaberry and Pierrefonds boulevards.

The new lanes will be used by the 208 and 209 routes plus the 409 and 475 express buses.
It’s part of the push to keep buses running on schedule.
STM officials said the lanes affect about 5,000 rides and adding reserved lanes will increase reliability by 10 per cent.
