Saskatoon police Taser man armed with hatchet after indecent exposure

SASKATOON – A 66-year-old man armed with a hatchet was Tasered by Saskatoon police Monday. At around 10:05 a.m., an officer stopped a motorcycle for a traffic safety violation in the 2900-block of 29th Street West.

During the investigation, the man exposed himself near a park and told an officer he was going to get a weapon before entering his house. Police say, at one point, he mentioned a firearm.

A short time later, the suspect emerged with a hatchet.

The man refused to comply with police instruction and one officer deployed a Taser. He was then taken into custody and transported to hospital as a precaution.

He is facing charges of indecent exposure, obstructing a police officer, uttering threats and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

No officers were hurt and no firearm was located.
