North Shore Rescue crew plucks injured hiker from Coliseum Mountain

The North Shore Rescue team was kept busy over the weekend after being called to search for an injured women near Coliseum Mountain in the Lynn Valley on Sunday.

The initial call indicated the woman had a head injury after slipping and falling a short distance below the ridge line on the Coliseum Mountain Trail but rescue crews only had a rough location of the injured hiker.

Locating the victim was tough due to the densely wooded area but with the help of a helicopter, ground search and rescue crews were able to locate the woman in about 30 minutes and longline her to safety.

The injured hiker was taken to hospital where she was treated for serious non-life threatening injuries.

This was the fifth response NSR executed over the long weekend.
