LETHBRIDGE – The City of Lethbridge is urging the public to stay away from the Oldman River on Thursday.
The city was informed of an unknown substance floating in the river at around 12 p.m. It is believed it entered the water through a storm water drain on the east river bank, north of Highway 3.
In a release, the city acknowledged it’s a time of year many people like to be in the river to beat the heat. However, as a precaution, residents are asked to stay off the river for the time being, while crews work to determine the source and nature of the substance.
