PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – An inmate who escaped from Saskatchewan Penitentiary on the weekend is back in custody. Lawrence Sewap, 35, was arrested by Prince Albert police early Tuesday afternoon.
He is expected to appear in provincial court Wednesday morning.
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) announced Sewap was missing after he was found to be absent during one of the counts on July 26 in the minimum security unit at the facility in Prince Albert. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Sewap is currently serving three years, nine months for aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, being unlawfully at large and obstructing a peace officer.
CSC said it will investigate the circumstances of the escape.
