UPDATE: All advisories mentioned in this story have ended

SASKATOON – A funnel cloud advisory has been issued for parts of Saskatchewan. Environment Canada officials say conditions are favourable Tuesday for the development of funnel clouds.

The advisory covers an area from Prince Albert southeast to Yorkton.

Officials say funnel clouds are possible in these areas as an unstable airmass and a trough of low pressure linger in the area.

They say these types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms and are normally not a danger near the ground.

There is a chance this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado.

Watches and warnings will be issued by Environment Canada if the conditions become more favourable for the development of landspout tornadoes.

Officials say any funnel cloud sighting should be taken seriously and if a funnel cloud develops nearby, prepare to take shelter. They usually appear with little to no warning.
