MONTREAL – Five people are in hospital, several with serious injuries, after a driver ran a red light on the corner of Atwater avenue and René-Lévesque boulevard.
The accident happened just before 1 a.m. when a man was driving north on Atwater avenue.
“He hit the vehicle going west on René-Lévesque as it was turning on north on Atwater,” said Anie Lemieux with the Montreal police.
The man was taken to hospital, but his life is not in danger.

The four women inside the other vehicle were also transported to hospital.
“Some may have serious injuries, but no one’s life is in danger,” said Lemieux.
Investigators are on the scene.
