PHOTOS: Golfers tee up in beautiful weather at Manitoba’s Players Cup

WINNIPEG — The annual Players Cup is officially underway at Pine Ridge Golf Club.

A total of 156 golfers, including four Manitobans, teed off early Thursday morning during the opening round of the tournament. Up for grabs is a $175,000 prize purse. The top golfer at the end of the fourth and final round Sunday will take home $31,500.

The Players Cup is the fifth event of the Mackenzie Tour – PGA of Canada Tour season. The summer-long circuit is part of the path to golf’s big bucks. The top five golfers at the end of the year graduate to the Web.com Tour – one step closer to the PGA Tour. Saskatchewan’s Graham DeLaet and 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir are both former Players Cup competitors.
