TORONTO — The new TV series based on Steven Spielberg’s 2002 movie Minority Report will be made in Vancouver — even though the pilot episode was filmed in Toronto.

Cameras are scheduled to roll from July 21 to Dec. 11. The series debuts Sept. 21 on Fox (and will be seen in Canada on Global).

The show follows a pre-cog (Stark Sands) who teams up with a police detective (Meagan Good) to stop crimes before they happen. The cast includes Wilmer Valderrama and Halifax native Laura Regan.

The pilot, which was filmed in March, showcases a number of Toronto’s landmarks including Yonge-Dundas Square, Nathan Phillips Square and Brookfield Place.

It’s not the first time a series began in Toronto and then moved to the west coast. The pilot and first season of TNT’s Falling Skies — executive produced by Spielberg — was made in Ontario but the final four seasons were made in Vancouver.
