Accused in fatal Calgary gas-and-dash charged with murder

CALGARY – The young man charged in a fatal gas-and-dash earlier this month is now facing a charge of second-degree murder.

Joshua Cody Mitchell is accused in the death of gas station attendant Maryam Rashidi, who was hit and run over along 16th Avenue N.W. on Sunday, June 7th.

He appeared in court on Monday, at which point his charges were upgraded.

Originally, the 20-year-old had been charged with criminal negligence causing death, hit and run causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
