Canadians have more than one thing to celebrate on July 1. Aside from it being our country’s 148th birthday, the general consensus about us is that we leave a good impression.

Expedia Canada asked people from England, Ireland, the Netherlands, Mexico and Australia what they think of us. The answer, not surprisingly, is that we’re “polite” and apologetic.

That’s better than what people had to say about Americans (including “they’re loud” and “think they own the world”), in a video recently produced in South Korea. It has since been taken down.

Our love of hockey, poutine and cottages also doesn’t go unnoticed. Nor do our thoughts on maple syrup and the fact that some of us apparently resemble lumberjacks.

Oh, and we also say “eh” a lot.

And complain about the weather often.
