Radio-Canada journalist, Isabelle Richer, seriously injured in biking accident

WATCH: Isabelle Richer, a long-time journalist for Radio-Canada was seriously injured in a cycling accident over the weekend in Rougemont, Que. She faces a long road to recovery after suffering serious head trauma and cervical fractures, but doctor’s are confident she will make a full recovery.

MONTREAL – Radio-Canada’s veteran crime reporter Isabelle Richer is in hospital with serious injuries.

Richer was hit by a truck while cycling in Rougemont on Saturday.

Although she is in critical condition with severe head trauma and cervical fractures, doctors remain optimistic she won’t suffer from any permanent damage.

“She will have to go through months of rehabilitation before she is able to head back to work,” said Radio-Canada in a press release.

Besides being a crime reporter, Richer was a host on Radio-Canada’s crime and justice show “Sous la Loupe” and was set to co-host the popular investigative show “Enquête” alongside Marie-Maude Denis this upcoming season.

“We are convinced Isabelle will be able to host both shows as planned, although perhaps not at the very beginning of the 2015-2016 season,” said Michel Cormier,  Radio-Canada’s head of TV News and Current Affairs in a statement.
