MEDICINE HAT, Alta. – A couple from southeastern Alberta who won nearly $25 million in Lotto 6-49 say they plan to help family and friends – and retire to the Okanagan valley in British Columbia.
Tim and Kendolyn Elliott won $24,907,026 in the Jan. 21 draw.
Tim checked the ticket and when he saw he had won, his hands started shaking.

He then called his wife and she didn’t believe him at first.
“I had pulled a prank on her before telling her we won when we didn’t. Then I told her, ‘No honey, we’re rich!’ Then I called my parents, and then I quit my job.”
Tim works in the oil and gas sector and says he’s not sure he can stay retired.
“When you got oilfield in your blood, it’s tough to stop.”
Tim purchased the winning $13 quick pick ticket at the Glenmore Circle Esso Carwash in Calgary.
The ticket was the only one sold across Canada to match all six winning numbers – nine, 11, 31, 34, 48 and 49.
