2 Calgary men charged in Friday night shootout

CALGARY – Two Calgary men have been charged in a shooting that happened in the city’s southeast on Friday night.

Just before 9 p.m., police say officers were called to the 5600 block of 8 Avenue S.E. after someone called to report seeing three vehicles  driving through an alley while people inside shot at each other. Police say the vehicles were already gone when officers arrived but several shell casings were found.

Bader Eddin Amer, 20, has been charged with assault and possession of a prohibited weapon. Talal Mohamad Amer, 22, has been charged with four counts of firearms offences and three counts of drug-related offences. Both men appeared in court on Monday.

“The investigation continues and officers are still hoping to speak with the occupants of the dark blue four-door sedan, possibly a Chrysler 330, which had cardboard covering the passenger side back window,” said police in a release.
