Police investigate after shootout reported in southeast on Friday

Police are investigating after shell casings were found on 8 Avenue S.E. Global News

CALGARY- Police are asking the public to provide information as they investigate disturbing reports of a shootout in southeast Calgary on Friday night.

Just before 9 p.m., police say officers were called to the 5600 block of 8 Avenue S.E. after someone called to report seeing three vehicles  driving through an alley while people inside them shot at each other.

Police say the vehicles were already gone when officers arrived but several shell casings were found.

No injuries were reported and police say at this point it doesn’t appear any houses were hit.

Police are now asking the public for any information on three vehicles of interest in connection with the incident:

-a newer, white Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck

-a dark blue four-door sedan, possibly a Chrysler 300, with cardboard covering the passenger-side back window

-a green or charcoal-coloured Mercedes-type sedan with tinted windows
