WATCH: We’re used to seeing old buildings coming down to make way for new ones, and as Gil Tucker shows us, some Calgarians are now using that time of transportation for a temporary installation.
CALGARY – The old Penguin Car Wash in Ramsay is now a very big “canvas” for 50 Calgary artists.

Closed since last fall, the building is soon to be demolished to make way for redevelopment.
The artists are busy transforming the empty space for a temporary exhibit called “Demo Tape.”
They’re salvaging what they find on the site, and re-purposing things like soap tanks and the doors on the wash bays as materials for their art.
The exhibit opens June 19 and runs for 10 days.
