TORONTO — Justin Bieber is helping drive sales of “personal motorized transporters” described as a cross between skateboards and Segways.
The IO Hawk, launched in February, is currently on back order until June 8.
“Look what ur boy just got,” Bieber wrote last month on Instagram, along with a video showing him riding one of the devices.
The IO Hawk was unveiled in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Bieber reportedly has six of the two-wheelers, which sell for $1,800 U.S. each.
According to the company, an IO Hawk can hold up to 280 pounds and typically runs for about 16 to 19 kilometres on a single charge. The top speed is around 10 kilometres an hour.
Bieber has posted six more video clips on Instagram showing he and his friends on IO Hawks.
In one, the 21-year-old Canadian pop star is seen going for a spin inside a private jet.
Another shows Bieber doing spins before falling.
He also posted a video showing his little brother Jaxon riding an IO Hawk.
On YouTube, there are videos of Bieber riding an IO Hawk down the sidewalk of Hollywood Boulevard and inside a recording studio.
Paparazzi have also snapped Bieber and his friends riding IO Hawks out and about in Los Angeles.
