UPDATE: Missing autistic boy found safe

SASKATOON – A boy with autism has been found by Saskatoon Police after he went missing Friday morning.

Austin Carter, 16, was last seen leaving his Lindsay Drive home Friday at 8:10 a.m.

A search was launched after the family learned the boy failed to arrive at school.

Due to his autism, Carter’s family worried he might try and hide from strangers or police officers looking for him.

Police say a GPS feature on his phone helped locate Carter on the east side of the South Saskatchewan River.
