WATCH: The SPCA is looking the person responsible for severely mutilating and killing cats in Laval. Gloria Henriquez reports.
MONTREAL – The SPCA is asking the public to help them find the person responsible for severely mutilating and killing a cat near Croissant Belcourt street in Laval.
“It is very scary,” said Andrée Charrette who found the kitten in her backyard.
This wasn’t the first animal that has been found dead in her home.
The kitten -named Abel by the SPCA veterinary team- was brought to their Montreal offices with a deep cut running from his chin to his shoulder, suffering “severe traumatic injuries.”
This is not the first time the SPCA has seen a case like this.

“The Montreal SPCA is extremely disturbed by this case, particularly as its inspection department has received a number of other complaints regarding ill-treatment of cats in the very same area,” the SPCA wrote in a statement.
“We’ve had many more poisoned cats,” said Jean-Jacques Charrette.
The organization has opened a criminal investigation into the case and they’re asking anyone with information to come forward.
“If they’ve seen anything in relation to people making threats or potentially doing something that can harm a cat, contact our inspection department,” said Alanna Devine, the SPCA’s Director of Animal Advocacy.
And while they work on solving the case, they advise residents to keep their pets indoors.
The SPCA’s investigative department can be reached by email at inspection@spca.com or by phone at 514 735 2711 ext 2230.
