CALGARY – Investigators are working to determine what sparked a massive house fire in the community of Erin Woods on Wednesday.
Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Erin Grove S.E. around 9 p.m.
When they arrived, crews found a large fire with flames venting from the roof. They immediately began working to extinguish the blaze and keep flames from spreading to neighbouring homes.
Three people in the home when the fire started were able to get out safely. Police also evacuated some neighbouring homes as a precaution.
The fire ate away at the home’s gas meter, forcing firefighters to allow the gas to burn in a controlled flare as ATCO worked to dig up the line and turn it off.
No injuries were reported.
