WATCH: Melissa Rivers slams Kathy Griffin over ‘Fashion Police’ exit

TORONTO — Melissa Rivers said this week she believes the legacy of her mother Joan Rivers was tarnished when Kathy Griffin suddenly quit Fashion Police in March.

Griffin, who replaced her friend Joan Rivers on the E! series, stated she was uncomfortable using comedy “to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference.”

Rivers’ 47-year-old daughter wasn’t impressed.

“My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of s*** all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving,” she said at an event promoting her memoir The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief, and Manipulation.

Joan Rivers died last September after she stopped breathing during an endoscopy. She was 81.

Rivers also said her famous mom’s longtime friend may not have been the best choice to step into her Fashion Police shoes.

“I’m just going to say it wasn’t a match on a lot of levels,” she said.

Rivers, though, is over it. “No harm, no foul,” she said. “Moving on.”
