CALGARY – Police investigating a shooting in the community of Southview on Monday say the victims aren’t cooperating with investigators.
Officers were called to the 2200 block of 26th Street S.E. just before midnight for reports of a car hitting a home.
Immediately after receiving the initial call, police began getting additional calls to the same area for reports of a shooting.
When they arrived, officers found one man inside a vehicle which had slammed into the exterior of a bungalow.
A young woman living in the home says she heard three to six gunshots before the car slammed into the house.
“We heard ‘booms’ and then the car came in,” says Shaida Hussein.
She and her mother went outside to see what had happened and found a man in the driver’s seat of the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound on his shoulder.
“I was freaked out, definitely.”
Shortly after, police found three men nearby who they believe were in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, one of whom was also suffering from a gunshot wound.
EMS rushed the two victims to the Foothills Medical Centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
At this point, police can’t say if the incident is thought to be gang-related.
