EDMONTON – Northlands has agreed to either repurpose or demolish Rexall Place.

The decision is in agreement with recommendations made in a Northlands Arena Strategy Committee Report. The first option is to work with partners to repurpose the arena. If Northlands can’t find partners, the arena will be demolished and the land will be developed.

The Northlands Board of Directors will derive a plan, which will include details on the repurposing of Rexall Place. The Strategic Plan is expected to be finished in the fall.

“We need a plan in place prior to the opening of Rogers Place in September 2016. What is clear is that whatever the outcome is, it must be based on a solid financial model and community benefit,” said Tim Reid, President & CEO of Northlands.
