CALGARY – The Kelowna Rockets drafted another Foote Thursday. The team used their first pick, in the second round of this year’s Western Hockey League bantam draft in Calgary, to select forward Nolan Foote.
The Rockets drafted defenceman Cal Foote in 2013. Both boys are sons of former NHL defenseman Adam Foote, who played for the Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets. Adam Foote was also on the Canadian Olympic Team that won gold in 2002 in Salt Lake City.
“Nolan is the player we wanted all along,” said Rockets GM Bruce Hamilton. “We’re thrilled to get him.”
Nolan Foote is 6-foot-1 and 150-pounds. He was selected by the Rockets 43 overall.

“It’s exciting to be drafted by Kelowna,” said Nolan. “Where Kelowna is located is an amazing spot and it’s a great organization. I’m very excited and I might have a chance to play with my brother Cal.”
The Rockets have also selected Kyle Pow from the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy. He was selected in the sixth round and stands 6-foot-5 at 210-pounds.
First overall the Spokane Chiefs selected defenceman Ty Smith. The five-foot-10, 160-pound defender from Lloydminster, Alta., had nine goals, 19 assists and 19 penalty minutes in 16 games for Delta Hockey Academy this past season.
The Lethbridge Hurricanes chose defenceman Calen Addison from Brandon, Man., with the second pick. The Vancouver Giants selected
centre Tyler Popowich from Surrey, B.C., at third.
Kelowna traded its first round pick to Prince Albert in the blockbuster deal to acquire Leon Draisaitl.
