FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. – Wildrose Leader Brian Jean says he doesn’t believe Albertans make mistakes.
Jean had warned during the provincial election campaign that Albertans might be in danger of accidentally electing an NDP government.

But the morning after the vote, Jean told reporters in Fort McMurray that he and his party respect the decision Albertans made to elect the NDP and that they will be a strong Opposition.
He also says a merger with Progressive Conservatives is not a priority.

Rather, he says, Wildrose will focus on cleaning up government and keeping its “feet to the fire.”
Jean also repeated his stance during the campaign that any Tory members who want to cross the floor and join Wildrose must sit as Independents and then run for the party in the next election.
