WINNIPEG — A 48-year-old man accused of coercing his children’s 17-year-old babysitter into having sex with him is on trial in Winnipeg. The man is charged with child exploitation.
The 17-year-old was originally hired to be a professional assistant to the man’s wife but later became the babysitter to the couple’s children, a Manitoba court was told Monday.
She told police the man coerced her into a sexual relationship that started with sexual conversations while they were watching television, and later escalated to meetings at the house and in his truck.
“At first he was pushing her, then it became kind of normal,” the teen told a detective in a police interview.
She also said she viewed the man as a father figure before the alleged sexual relationship began.
