Emotional Tisdale, Sask. vigil remembers murdered mom, 3 children

TISDALE, Sask. – More than 250 people clutched candles and cried at an emotional vigil last night for a mother and three children killed in a murder-suicide in rural Saskatchewan.

Hundreds turned out to pay their respects.

The vigil included tears, music, and balloons in honour of Latasha Gosling, 27, and her children Jenika, 8, Landen, 7, and Janayah, 4, whose bodies were found in their mobile home in Tisdale last week.

The killer took his six-month-old baby girl from the trailer, drove to Prince Albert and killed himself in a home there, but left the baby unharmed.

Tim Funk, a cousin of Gosling, says the vigil gave his family a chance to meet the people who have been offering them condolences and prayers.

Local pastor Roy Zimmerman told the crowd they can help prevent domestic violence.

Louise Schweitzer, who runs North East Outreach and Support Services, says the tight-knit town of 3,200 people is traumatized and needs to begin the healing process.

Funerals are set to take place in Nipawin tomorrow afternoon.
