MONTREAL — The world’s largest jazz festival returns to Montreal this summer with Wayne Shorter, Al Di Meola, Jamie Cullum and Dee Dee Bridgewater among the headliners.
André Menard, artistic director of the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, on Tuesday announced the indoor program for venues ranging from prestigious concert halls to intimate clubs.

Menard said Montreal will be “the true heartbeat of Planet Jazz” when the festival presents nearly 1,000 performances in 10 indoor venues and nine outdoor stages from June 26 to July 5.
Rockers Huey Lewis and the News will be making their first appearance at the Montreal festival, which Menard said “is home to all forms of music.”
Other non-jazz performers include the Steve Miller Band, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Lucinda Williams, Erykah Badu and King Sunny Ade.
