SASKATOON – Improperly disposed smoking material has been deemed the cause of a garage fire in Saskatoon. Firefighters were called to 138 Lehrer Close in Hampton Village just before 8 p.m. Monday.
Responding crews could see smoke from several blocks away. Saskatoon Fire Department officials said flames were coming through the roof when firefighters arrived at the two-storey home.
An offensive attack was set up and the fire was contained to the garage. An under control was given approximately 45 minutes later.
The homeowners were alerted to the fire by neighbours and were able to get out before fire crews arrived. No injuries were reported.
Damage is estimated at $100,000 and there here was some smoke damage to the interior of the house.
