CALGARY – Several people were left without a home after a fire ripped through three houses in the community of Hidden Valley on Monday.
The flames broke out in the 10700 block of Hidden Valley Dr. NW. around 5 p.m.
Homeowners and children were forced into the street as fire destroyed the three houses, and damaged a fourth.
“It was flames and the house was covered in smoke and it was already sky high,” said Jaron Whalen, a witness to the inferno.
One of the residences was a dayhome. Two adults and six children made it out safely.
“They got the kids out safely, but it was still very scary and very traumatic for everyone involved,” says Carol Henke.
Firefighters eventually managed to douse the flames and no one was injured. Arson investigators are now sifting through the ashes to determine how the fire started.
