Man charged after woman critically injured in north Edmonton hit-and-run

EDMONTON – A 50-year-old man has been charged after allegedly hitting his partner with a vehicle in a north Edmonton parking lot early Monday morning.

The Edmonton man, whose name is not being released to protect the woman’s identity, has been charged with aggravated assault, criminal hit and run causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Police were called to a parking lot in the area of 131 Avenue and Fort Road around 12:35 a.m. Monday. It was reported to police a couple was involved in a dispute when they left a nearby business.

It’s alleged the man then hit his 44-year-old partner with a vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injures. On Wednesday police said she was still in hospital in critical but stable condition.
