Surrey RCMP investigating Friday night shooting

Another apparent driveby shooting in Surrey is being investigated by police.

According to Surrey RCMP Staff Sgt. Murray Henderson, they received calls about shots fired in the area of 65th Avenue and 121st Street last night around 11:15 p.m. When they arrived, they were told by witnesses that two vehicles quickly left from the area after shots were heard.

One of the vehicles was a small grey import car that appeared to be fairly new, while the other was a darker sedan.

Surrey RCMP found no evidence that anything had been hit by a bullet, but did find a shell casing near the intersection.

There have now been at least 22 shootings in Surrey and Delta since March 9, and police are warning the public that there’s a low-level “turf war” happening between gangs in the city.
