Festival of Trees exceeds fundraising goal

It was a record setting year for the Festival of Trees fundraising event at the Western Development Museum.

Organizers announced Thursday morning they exceed their goal this year by 30 per cent by raising $195,000 to support the Saskatchewan MS Clinical Research Chair Campaign at Saskatoon City Hospital.

It is the largest amount raised in the 26 year history of the event.

“Our goal this year was to net $150,000. This $195,000 total feels like Christmas morning,” said Festival chair Rick Steffen.

Steffen said it took about four weeks to tally the final number, a figure Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation CEO Steve Shannon says was only possible through volunteers, sponsors and supporters.

“All played an important role in our MS Chair Campaign which focuses on clinical research to identify the causes, develop new and improvement treatments, and ultimately, to find a cure for MS,” said Shannon.
