CALGARY- The city of Calgary is adjusting its hours this weekend due to the arrival of the beloved Easter Bunny, from Friday April 3 to Monday April 6, 2015.
Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed this Easter weekend.
Hours to know:
Calgary Transit will operate on a Sunday level of service throughout the entire Easter weekend. To check schedules go to calgarytransit.com, call teleride at 403-974-4000, or Calgary Transit Customer Service at 403-262-1000 for more detailed information.
CTrain service disruption: From Friday to Sunday, shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between City Hall and 39 Avenue stations, and between City Hall and Bridgeland/Memorial stations. Victoria/Park Stampede and Erlton/Stampede stations will be closed. This is to accommodate construction related to the New Central Library in the East Village as well as general maintenance. Calgary Leisure Centres
- Southland Leisure Centre will open Friday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and close Sunday. Regular hours return Monday, April 6 from 5:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Village Square Leisure Centre will open Friday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Regular hours return 6 a.m. – 1-p.m. on Monday.
Aquatics and Fitness Centres offer free swimming on Sunday from 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the following locations (all other aquatic and fitness centres will be closed):
- Canyon Meadows Aquatic & Fitness Centre
- Foothills Aquatic Centre
- Inglewood Aquatic Centre
- Killarney Aquatic & Recreation Centre
- Sir Winston Churchill Aquatic & Recreation Centre
Arenas
- All Calgary arenas will be closed for both Friday and Sunday, except for advanced bookings.
Art Centres
- Art Centres including the North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres will be closed for both Friday and Sunday.
Calgary Soccer Centre
- Calgary Soccer Centre will be closed Friday through to Sunday.
Animal Services Centre
- Animal Services Centre will be closed on Friday and Sunday.
City of Calgary Parks:
- Inglewood Bird Sanctuary will be closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The sanctuary trails will remain closed throughout 2015.
- Devonian Gardens will remain open from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Good Friday and will be closed Easter Sunday.
Shopping
Calgary malls will operate according to Sunday hours. Market Mall will open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday, while the Chinook Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both Friday and Sunday.
City of Calgary administrative offices will be closed on Friday and will reopen on Monday, April 6.
