The number of people living in Saskatchewan has hit an all-time high as the population continues to grow at a record pace.
As of October 1, 2011, Statistics Canada says 1,063,535 people called the province home, an increase of 5,651 people since July 1st.
That’s the largest increase in any quarter since StatsCan started keeping records in 1971, surpassing the previous record of 5,444 set in the last quarter.

Driving the growth was international migration, with 3,436 new immigrants moving to the province.
Premier Brad Wall says the growing population is a sign Saskatchewan is on the right track.
“Today in Saskatchewan, there are a lot more people moving in than moving out, thanks to our strong economy and tremendous quality of life,” said Wall.
“Our government will continue working hard to meet both the opportunities and the challenges created by our growing population.”
Saskatchewan had the fastest growth rate of any province in the last quarter and the second-fastest in Canada last year next to Alberta.
