TORONTO – An 11-year-old boy has been badly burned and six others taken to hospital following a two-alarm fire in the city’s west end Tuesday morning.
The blaze broke out just before 10 a.m. in a second floor apartment at 230 Lake Promenade, near Long Branch Avenue and the water front.
Six people were inside the apartment at the time the fire broke out.
Toronto Police say responding officers were able to rescue three children from the apartment. Two children and three adults suffered minor smoke inhalation while a young boy was badly burned in the incident.
The child was rushed to SickKids Hospital.
Police say several officers were also being treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
